Carol
Pfeffer
Executive Director
Carol
moved from Richmond, Virginia to Hilton Head Island after graduating
from Longwood College with a degree in Psychology and Sociology.
She spent 9 years as the Country Club of Hilton Head’s Membership
Director and 7 years as Activities Director for Sun City Hilton
Head. Prior to coming on board at The Sandbox, she worked part-time
at McNair Law Firm and taught swim lessons for The Island Recreation
Center and Sea Pines Plantation.
Carol
has been very involved with the American Cancer Society’s
Winter Ball steering committee; co-chairing the event in 2006. She
has volunteered for the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament assisting
with player transportation for the past 4 years, is Secretary of
the Plantation Garden Club and is on several committees at St. Andrew’s
by the Sea United Methodist Church.
Carol
resides in Hilton Head Plantation with her husband, Bob, and two
cats. She keeps busy with her horse, Racine, gardening, working
out, learning golf and traveling.

Holly
Nitke
Director of Operations & Educational Programming
Holly
has worked with children and youth in both educational and recreational
settings for the past 25 years. She graduated from the University
of Minnesota-Duluth with a BA in Juvenile Criminal Justice and a
BS in Therapeutic Recreation and received her MA in Child and Youth
Administrative Services from the University of Minnesota.
She
has directed early childhood programs at Hilton Head Preparatory
School, The Lexington Medical Center and The College of Charleston
Child and Family Center. She is a frequent speaker at state conferences
and has presented at numerous conferences and associations throughout
the United States, including the National Association for the Education
of Young Children, National Parent Teacher Association, 21st Century
Community Learning Centers, National After-School Association and
the YMCA of the USA. Locally, she chairs the Heritage Kid’s
club, a division of the Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament, where
she has volunteered for over 20 years.
Holly
resides on the Island with her husband, Brett, and enjoys the local
beaches, hanging out at the pool and golf.
